Forgiveness

Often counselling clients say to us that they cannot move on in their lives as they are stuck in the hurt/upset of something someone has done on them in the past. They say they simply cannot forgive the person for what they have done. Our clients regain emotional freedom when our counsellors help them realise this very important point ….”You are not forgiving the person for their sake.  You’re doing it for yourself.  For your own health and well-being, forgiveness is simply the most energy-efficient option”. It’s bad enough that something was done to you once, but don’t do it to yourself again today by re-running a thought “DVD” of the situation. You’ll know you are watching that negative DVD as you will be feeling bad. Remember, your feelings are only there to show what your thinking is doing. Your mind can only think one thought at once which means you are only ever one thought away from feeling happier. You can choose what to think. So simply distract yourself by paying full attention to what is going on in the present moment.
